Bird On The Wire

Bird on the Wire may refer to the famous song by Leonard Cohen, recorded in 1968. It may also refer to the 1990 film starring Mel Gibson. Now, Bird on the Wire refers to a band from Amsterdam, that writes songs about the movements they make. They have been around since 2011, transforming their sound until they were ready to release their debut album ‘Our Hands Meet on the Moon’ on Meduse MagiQ records in May 2014.

You could describe their sound as dream pop, although they have some darker sides, too. The songs can be seen as stories, all evolving from images. The melodic drums make new chapters into these stories and the dreamy, sometimes psychedelic, guitars and keys create a sound that makes Bird on the Wire a unique band. You could refer to them by their influences, from the Velvet Underground to Warpaint, still their songs are very authentic.

Bird on the Wire is not only in it for the music, they love collabarating with other disciplines too. They just started working with video artists Jacco Olivier who’s moving paintings are currently on tour with Bird on the Wire.

Bird on the Wire played shows in the Netherlands, Germany and France, doing support shows for Tennis (US), St. Vincent (US), Thus:Owls (SE) and Braids (CA). Recently they have been supporting Marble Sounds (BE) for their shows in Belgium and Holland.

Their debut album is where is all begins. The movements go further, as they are starting the ‘Our Hands Meet on the Moon’ tour in September 2014 with shows in the Netherlands. Also shows in France, Germany, Belgium and Scandinavia are on their agenda. The music is evolving, the live show too, and it’s all about the movements.
